FILIPINO COMMUNITIES IN NORTHERN GERMANY COMMEMORATE THE SINULOG FESTIVAL
Ambassador Natividad narrated the story of how the image of the Sto. Nino, considered the oldest Catholic relic in the country, found its way to Cebu and the provenance of the world sinulog. The Sinulog Festival, which started in Cebu is now celebrated in other parts of the Philippines and worldwide where there are large Filipino communities, she said.
In Hamburg, Chaplain Fr. Ritchill Salinas, SVD, led the Sinulog Feast and Mass at Kleiner Michel Parish and was joined by Filipino groups from Kiel, Lübeck, and Bremen, with participants from Rostock and as far as Denmark joining the Sinulog presentations and dances. Consul Ganzon shared the Ambassador’s message with the community, thanking the community for keeping alive our Filipino traditions.
The festivities concluded with the usual salo-salo among members of the community and church guests. (END)
