GLOBAL PRESENCE, SUSTAINABILITY AND DESIGN EXCELLENCE MARK PHILIPPINE BRAND AT AMBIENTE 2026

7 February 2026 — Sustainability and design superiority are hallmarks of Philippines’ showcase in this year’s Ambiente, the biggest international fair for crafts and consumer goods that kicked off in Frankfurt, Germany this weekend.

The Philippine Pavillion spotlights 32 companies, including from focus regions Mindanao and Bicol, curated by the Department of Trade and Industry’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) with DESIGNPhilippines.  Dozens of other Philippine exporters from Pampanga and Cebu, as well as a group of crafts producers from the Province of Tarlac, are also participating at the Fair.

Filipino-made furniture and crafts stand out in Ambiente 2026 for their trademark craftsmanship, and a contemporary design aesthetic with global appeal that is deeply rooted in sustainability.

Filipino designer Tony Gonzales played this up in designing the Philippine Pavilion this year, which places long-time exporters like Tadeco Home  from Davao, CalFurn from Pampanga  and Shellmed from Bicol alongside a new generation of young designers and entrepreneurs in their 20s like Julius Jim Torres (Zarate Manila) and sisters Toni and Alex Gonzales (Freden Exporters).  The Filipino space in Ambiente is modern, artful and friendly, bearing the stamp of the imaginative and dynamic innovation that distinguishes Philippine design in the global marketplace.

In the opening event, Philippine Ambassador-Designate Maria Teresa Almojuela highlighted that the sustainability defining Philippine design is ahead of its time, and it is not only a design aesthetic but also a strategy for resilience and a way of life for Filipino communities.

Materials that single out Philippine design at Ambiente 2026 include abaca, rattan, bamboo, nito, sustainably harvested wood and new materials such as a MarmorcastⓇ and NaturecastⓇ of Nature’s Legacy, recognized in Europe for its green credentials,  They tell much about Filipino imagination and creativity inspired by nature.

Ambassador-Designate Almojuela pointed out the powerful human connection and the stories that each Filipino product brings to the world through Ambiente.  She cited the spirit of enterprise of indigenous communities across the Philippines partnering with participating enterprises, such as Green Inc. which teams up with at least 25 indigenous communities looking after rattan-growing lands in Palawan.  Items include reimagined forms of furniture such as three-legged stools featuring traditional weaves.

The Philippines’ participation in the Ambiente builds up on the immense mileage generated by the Philippines’ participation in the Frankfurt Bookfair as Guest of Honor Country in October 2025.

Ambassador Almojuela said that  the celebration of Filipino art, culture and thought at the biggest book fair in the world in 2026 as well as the high-profile and consistent performance of the Philippines in Ambiente and modern marketplaces in Germany and the other parts of Europe signify the Philippines’ global presence and global identity.

The Philippines’ participation in the Ambiente was organized by the Department of Trade and Industry-CITEM, in partnership with DESIGNPhilippines.   The CITEM-led exhibitors were 33 Point 3 Exports, Aerostone Inc., Albertina Export & Import, Inc, Arte Cebuana, Calfurn, Coast Pacific, Conway Designs Inc, CSM Philippines, Dela Cruz House of Pinya, Freden Export Phils Inc., Green Inc., Jireh Forge, Klassy Collections, Las Auras, Nature’s Legacy, Orient Meadow, Robles Heritage, Studio Moodism, Tadeco Home, That One Piece, Weavemanila Inc., Zarate Manila, T’Nalak Home, EJ Pasia, Maria Vinecraft, Yvette’s, Kathryn Fanlo, Shelmed, FGM Crafts, Fulgosino Enterprise, Natural Carpet Industries and RCB Crafts and Designs.

Die vom CITEM geführten Aussteller waren 33 Point 3 Exports, Aerostone Inc., Albertina Export & Import, Inc, Arte Cebuana, Calfurn, Coast Pacific, Conway Designs Inc, CSM Philippines, Dela Cruz House of Pinya, Freden Export Phils Inc., Green Inc., Jireh Forge, Klassy Collections, Las Auras, Nature’s Legacy, Orient Meadow, Robles Heritage, Studio Moodism, Tadeco Home, That One Piece, Weavemanila Inc., Zarate Manila, T’Nalak Home, EJ Pasia, Maria Vinecraft, Yvette’s, Kathryn Fanlo, Shelmed, FGM Crafts, Fulgosino Enterprise, Natural Carpet Industries und RCB Crafts and Designs.

Der philippinische Pavillon befindet sich in Halle 10.4, A49, B42, C51. Die Ambiente findet vom 6. bis 10. Februar 2026 in der Messe Frankfurt statt.

The Philippines underlines climate-vulnerable countries’ role in global water discussions

The Philippines underlines climate-vulnerable countries’ role in global water discussions

In discussions on “Water. Harvests. Our Future” at this year’s Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference, Philippine Agriculture Undersecretary Roger Navarro said that each country has a unique role and contribution critical to strengthening international water governance and underscored that climate-vulnerable countries must be heard in global water discussions.  He called for stronger cooperation, data sharing, technology transfer, and financing that support water-efficient, smallholder-focused solutions, especially in these climate-vulnerable countries.

The Philippines is a climate-vulnerable country which is investing heavily on modern irrigation, solar-powered irrigation systems, rainwater harvesting, and improved on-farm water management to produce more food with less water, while protecting its soils and watersheds.  It has promulgated a Water Code that prioritizes water use for agriculture, after domestic use, underscoring the need for Integrated Water Resources Management at the river basin level and sustainable land management.

Among the priority legislative agenda of the Philippines under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is the creation of a Department of Water Resources which will oversee and manage national water resources to achieve universal access to safe, affordable, and sustainable water supply.

The Berlin Agriculture Ministers’ Conference and the 18th Global Forum for Food and Agriculture were held from 14 to 17 January 2026 in Berlin.
