The proclamations declaring national holidays for the observance of Eid’l Fitr (possibly 23 or 24  May which are Saturday and Sunday) and Eidul Adha (31 July Friday or 1 August  Saturday) shall be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar or the lunar calendar, or upon Islamic astronomical calculations, whichever is possible or convenient.

Migration Advocacy and Media (MAM) Awards 2019 open for nominations

The MAM Awards recognize the positive and significant contributions of media outlets, institutions and practitioners in the fields of print, radio, movie and television, advertising and internet from the government and private media organizations in the Philippines and abroad, in raising public awareness on issues on Filipino migration (i.e., human trafficking, illegal recruitment, brain drain and brain circulation, remittance flows, political crisis, families left behind by migrants, etc.) advocating the cause of Filipinos overseas, or promoting a positive image of Filipinos overseas.

The awards were conceived in 2011 by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) and the Inter-Agency Committee for the December Celebration of the Month of Overseas Filipinos and International Migrants DAy in the Philippines.

For the 2019 Awards, entries must be received by the Awards Secretariat on or before 30 July 2019.

Voters IDs

In view of the implementation of Republic Act No. 11055, otherwise known as “An Act Establishing the Philippine Identification System,” the printing of voters’ identification cards have been suspended by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Advisory Against Fraudulent Company

March 19, 2019

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has issued an advisory against engaging in business with Shin Premier International Merchant and its related aliases, proven to be engaged in advance payment scam, posing as an exporter of A4 paper supplies. Research of the DTI-Export Marketing Bureau has also traced that said company is using other company names in their illegal activities:

  • Shin International Export Company
  • Shin Pulp Papers Supply
  • Fushin International Enterprise
  • Sheen Papel
  • Shin Group of Companies / Grupo de Empresa

Shin Premier and Shin International Export have already been included in the DTI Watchlist of Exporters and Foreign Buyers.
