Ban on Entry of Travelers from Countries with Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 B.1.1.7 or VUI 2020/12/01 Strains – including Germany

 

With reference to the Philippines’ Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) Resolution No. 91 dated 29 December 2020, and with a view to protecting the health and safety of the Filipino people with regards to the risks posed by the new COVID-19 variant (B..1.1.7 or VUI 2020/12/01), the public is advised of the following:

  1. The temporary suspension of flights from, and the prohibition of entry on all travelers coming from or transiting through, the United Kingdom, which was imposed pursuant to IATF Resolution No. 90 issued on 23 December 2020 is extended until January 15, 2021, except as modified with reference to entry of Filipino citizens;
  1. All foreign travelers coming from, or transiting through, the countries/jurisdictions listed below, or those who have been to these countries within 14 days immediately before arriving in the Philippines, are prohibited from entering the Philippines effective 0001H of 30 December 2020, until 15 January 2021: 

1) Australia; 2) Canada; 3) Denmark; 4) France; 5) Germany; 6) Hong Kong SAR; 7) Iceland; 8) Ireland; 9) Israel; 10) Italy; 11) Japan; 12) Lebanon; 13) The Netherlands; 14) Singapore; 15) South Africa; 16) South Korea; 17) Spain; 18) Sweden; 19) Switzerland.

  1. All passengers coming from above-mentioned countries/jurisdictions, or those who have stayed in these countries/jurisdictions within the last 14 days, who are already in transit and will arrive in the Philippines before 30 December 2020, will be required to undergo an absolute 14-day facility-based quarantine, even when their COVID-19 test result after arrival in the Philippines is negative.
  1. Filipinos coming from the above-mentioned countries/jurisdictions, or those who have been in these areas within the last 14 days before their arrival in the country, will be allowed entry to the Philippines but they are required to undergo an absolute 14-day facility-based quarantine, even when their COVID-19 test result after arrival in the Philippines is negative.
  1. The Philippines may add to the list of countries/jurisdictions as the situation develops and upon the joint recommendation of the Department of Health and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
  1. Outbound travel to countries with reported new variants will be subject to the existing exit protocols of the Philippines as well as entry protocols of the respective countries.

In view of the above guidelines from IATF Resolution No. 91, all previously issued visas and entry exemptions granted to foreign nationals coming from, or transiting through, or who have stayed in the above-mentioned areas within 14 days from date of arrival in the Philippines, will not be honored by the Bureau of Immigration during the travel ban period from 30 December 2020 to 15 January 2021.

Public Advisory No. 28

December 16, 2020

The Federal Government of Germany has announced further restrictions on activities nationwide in view of the increasing rates of COVID-19 infections.

Effective Wednesday, 16 December 2020, and until 10 January 2021, the following restrictions will take effect: 

  • All shops, with the exception of food shops and those selling essential goods, will be closed;
  • Service businesses, including hairdressers, will close because physical distance cannot be avoided. Necessary medical treatment, including physiotherapy, will continue to be possible;
  • Schools and nurseries sessions will be suspended during this period;
  • Restaurants may continue to deliver food or sell food for take-away only; consumption of alcoholic beverages in public is not allowed;
  • Church services and religious gatherings are possible under specific preconditions;
  • Private meetings with friends and family are limited to a maximum of 5 individuals from a total of two households, children under 14 are not counted in this limit;
  • Both the federal and state governments are urgently appealing to all citizens to avoid all non-essential travel inside and outside of Germany;

Special Reminders: 

December 24 to 26, 2020

Households will be permitted to meet up with a maximum of 4 close family members from outside of their immediate households plus any children up to the age of 14.

New Year’s Eve (December 31, 2020) and New Year’s Day (January 1, 2021)

 There is a nationwide ban on all gatherings on both days.

Sale of fireworks before the New Year will be banned;

Use of fireworks in areas frequented by many people is prohibited;

In general, it is recommended not to let off any fireworks.

Everyone is enjoined to observe these restrictions along with other on-going public health measures, such as wearing of masks in public spaces, avoiding crowded areas, observing physical distancing, and, regularly airing out closed rooms and areas. Let us work together in helping curb the spread of COVID.
