Berlin. The Philippines, represented by Dragon Fireworks, Inc., won the 2013 edition of the Pyronale Fireworks World Championships at the Berlin Olympic Stadium on 7 September 2013. The gold medal winning effort, entitled “Philippines – Here Comes the Dragon” won plaudits from the thousands present, who also gave the team the audience award for the evening. The Philippine team’s choreographed performance included songs from Angeline Quinto (“Piliin Mo ang Pilipinas”), Carol Banawa (“Tanging Yaman”), and the Tinikling folk dance. Remarkably, the performance was designed by Mr. Vander Tenedero, a 20-year old business student.
Prior to their performance, the team, led by Mr. Jovenson Ong and Don Miguel Villarosa, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Maria Cleofe R. Natividad at the Philippine Embassy. Ambassador Natividad welcomed the initiative and entrepreneurial spirit of Dragon Fireworks, which has the ambitious goal of entering the European market.
