Philippines, Germany inaugurate Joint Economic Committee virtually

September 22, 2020

In a milestone for bilateral economic relations, the Philippines and Germany held the inaugural session of their Joint Economic Committee (JEC) online on 15 September, with more than 90 attendees from the government and private sector.

The new mechanism, which aims to facilitate trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, is co-chaired by their trade ministries and likewise includes private sector representatives.

The inaugural meeting was co-chaired by DTI Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo (top left) and German Parliamentary State Secretary Marco Wanderwitz from the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi).

The JEC was the product of several years of discussion by the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in Berlin and the Philippine Embassy in Berlin with the BMWi. END
