The Bavarian Ministry of Health in Munich announced yesterday evening the first confirmed case of infection of the 2019-nCoV virus in Germany. The patient is reported to be in good condition, and is currently in an isolated ward for close monitoring.
The Bavarian Health Ministry likewise stated that the risk of virus infection for the Bavarian population is low, based on the assessment of the “Task Force Infektiologio” (Infectiology Task Forc) of the Bavarian Office for Health and Food Safety in Erlangen (LGL) and the Robert Koch Institute.
In view of the on-going public health concerns, the public is advised to observe the necessary precautions, including the following:
Cover your mouth and nose with tissue, sleeve, or crook of your elbow when coughing or sneezing;
Throw tissues into a closed bin after use;
Clean hands with soap and water or alcohol-based handrub after coughing or sneezing;
Avoid close contact with other persons when you are experiencing fever and cold or flu-like symptoms;
Avoid spitting in public;
Seek medical care if you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing;
If you become sick while traveling, inform the crew (plane, train, etc), seek medical care early and share your travel history with your health care provider.
